The Laplander drum

During the 17th and 18th centuries the witchcraft drums were gathered and burned. The Nåjd (medicine man) who had the drum as a tool was punished. The power of the church was very strong and nothing was allowed to challenge its power.

The witchcraft drum is of a spiritual nature and the pictures symbolizes men, gods, animals, prosperity and so on. The pictures reflex the society.

Most of the witchcraft drums today are copies of those few who were rescued. The drums that Bo-Göran makes are not copies, but of course he gets his inspiration from the ancient Laplander culture. Most of Bo-Görans drums are formed as necklaces. He makes them out of reindeer antler, sallow or an outgrowth of the birch.
