Laplander cup The Laplander cup is descended from the Laplander culture. It is used for drinking and is made out of an outgrowth on the birch. The outgrowth is used because it is strong, does not weight much and on top of that it does not give food or drink any taste. To the left you can see photos of cups in different sizes. The one on top is a cup used for schnapps and its diameter is 6 cm. It contains 4 cl and has a full length of 11 cm. The one in the middle shows a necklace. The size varies just as the bigger cups used for drinking. This necklace is 10 mm x 15 mm. To make the jewellery Bo-Göran uses sallow and reindeer antler. The leather band is the same that is used for the drop of water. The lower photo shows a cup for use. It measures 7.5 cm in diameter and contains 10 cl. It has a nice grip and gives the owner respect by the camp fire. Cups in different sizes The size of a cup depends on the outgrowth on the birch. It is the wish of the customer as well as the supply that determines what Bo-Göran can make. Written by: Mats Lauri Korvi and Cia Pettersson |
